Bundesliga: Kane Makes History with Hat-Trick as Bayern Munich Thrash Augsburg

Bayern Munich Stay Unbeaten with 3-0 Win Over Augsburg

“We knew it would be difficult to break them down. We knew we had to be patient.”

Harry Kane made history by becoming the fastest player to reach 50 Bundesliga goals, scoring a hat-trick in Bayern Munich's 3-0 win over Augsburg.

Harry Kane etched his name in Bundesliga history, becoming the fastest player to reach 50 goals in the league. The Bayern Munich striker achieved this milestone with a hat-trick in their 3-0 win over Augsburg.

Kane needed three goals to reach the landmark, and he delivered. He opened the scoring with a 63rd-minute penalty, then added two more in injury time. His second goal also came from the spot, after Keven Schlotterbeck was sent off for a second yellow card.

Kane's third goal was a testament to his skill, as he headed the ball in just before full-time after a fantastic first touch to control the ball. With 50 goals in 43 Bundesliga games, Kane surpassed Erling Haaland's record of 50 goals in 50 games for Borussia Dortmund.

The win propelled Bayern Munich eight points clear of Leipzig at the top of the league ahead of the weekend's games. The victory also ensured the German giants remain unbeaten in the league, boasting nine wins and two draws from their 11 games.

Harry Kane reflected on the win, saying, “We knew it would be difficult to break them down. We knew we had to be patient.” He added, “At half-time that's what we said, 'we just have to keep doing what we're doing'. Thankfully we got the penalty to open the game up and then did well to kill the game off.” Kane's comments were made in a post-match interview with DAZN.

Kane has been in impressive form this season, scoring 14 goals in 11 league games for Bayern. Notably, five of those goals have come from penalties. The 31-year-old's hat-trick against Augsburg marked a significant milestone, as he became the fastest player to reach 50 Bundesliga goals.

Harry Kane credited his penalty success to diligent practice. ”I work on them a lot,” he said. “They're a big part of the game. They helped us again today.” Kane acknowledged that he doesn't always convert his penalties in training, but emphasized that it's all part of the learning process. “Of course I've missed many at training, but that's the time to miss them.”

Kane's impressive form has made this a record-breaking season for the striker. He has now scored 20 goals in all competitions this term. One notable highlight was his four-goal performance in the 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League in September. This achievement made him the top English scorer in Champions League or European Cup history with 33 goals in 45 games, surpassing Wayne Rooney's old mark of 30. Kane also became the first English player to score four goals in a Champions League game.
