Arrested Bandit Confesses to Making Millions from Kidnapping Activities
Abdulrahman Adamu, a bandit arrested by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, has confessed to using his share of ransom money for lavish pursuits. Adamu was among eight suspects paraded by FCT Commissioner of Police Tunji Disu on October 21, 2024. The suspects, including Abdulrahman Giwa, Baba Hassan, Mohammed Dahiru, Abubakar Bature (alias Dayi), Abubakar Kadiri (alias Dare), Kabiru Ibrahim, Ya'u Adamu, and Hussani Ori (alias Mugu), have been linked to terrorizing communities in FCT, Kaduna, and Niger states.
Commissioner Disu revealed that the group's leader, known only as Mallam, and eight others were killed in a shootout. The FCT Police Command's proactive efforts and coordinated operations demonstrate effectiveness in combating crime. This crackdown marks a significant step toward restoring peace and security in the FCT.

“All suspects are members of a kidnapping/banditry gang led by one Mallam (surname unknown), now deceased.
“During operations targeting the strongholds of the kidnappers in the Kweri and Gauraka Forests, Mallam and eight other suspects were neutralized after an intense exchange of gunfire.
“Unfortunately, two operatives of the FCT Command sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment in the hospital,” he stated.
The police commissioner revealed that intelligence gathered indicated the gang's hostages were held in multiple locations, including Gidan Dogo Forest in Kaduna, Gauraka Forest in Niger, and Kweri and Kachia forests in Kaduna. This information highlights the gang's extensive operational reach and coordination.
During the operation, police recovered significant exhibits from the gang, including:
- Firearms: 3 AK-47 rifles
- Ammunition: 100 rounds of live 7.62 ammunition
- Magazines: 10 AK-47 magazines
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining gang members and recover additional arms and ammunition.
In a stunning confession, Abdulrahman Adamu, one of the arrested gang members, admitted to generating substantial income from kidnapping activities. Specifically, he revealed earning N600,000 from the last operation before his arrest, shedding light on the financial motivations driving these crimes.
“I joined through one of my friends. He is dead now. What we do is to kidnap people for money. The people I was accused of killing were based on the instructions of my boss.
“My boss is dead now. I have made a lot of money kidnapping people. In the last operation before we were caught I made over N600,000,” he said.
When asked what he used the money for, he said, “I used my money to drink and carry women. I used it to womanize and drink.”
