The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has issued a stern warning to roadside beggars in Abuja, urging them to vacate the streets immediately or face arrest by enforcement agents. This announcement was made by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike during the flag-off ceremony for the construction of the access road to the newly launched judges' quarters in Katampe.
Minister Wike expressed concern over the rising number of street beggars, citing the significant security threat it poses to the city. He emphasized that the FCTA will no longer tolerate this issue, giving beggars an ultimatum to leave the streets by October 27, 2024.

Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, made two significant announcements during the launch of the construction of 40 new judges' quarters in Katampe District. Firstly, he revealed that he had revoked the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) of certain plots of land allocated to Julius Berger, a German construction company, in the area.
Wike also shared updates on the judges' quarters project, highlighting that 70% of the funds had been released following approval by the Federal Executive Council last month. The project will consist of 40 housing units, allocated as follows:
FCT High Court: 20 units
Federal High Cour: 10 units
Court of Appeal: 10 units
