Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has announced the implementation of a new minimum wage of ₦70,000, effective October. This development was shared during a meeting with principals and head teachers from public primary and secondary schools at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women's Development Center in Awka on Thursday, September 26.

It's worth noting that while this information hasn't been verified through official channels, Governor Soludo has previously demonstrated commitment to workers' welfare. For instance, he reassured state workers of improved welfare during talks with the Anambra Nigeria Labour Congress leadership. However, details of the minimum wage implementation are still emerging.

“From next week, the free education policy will be available to senior students in all public schools in Anambra,” Soludo said.

“I assure that even with the binding resource constraint, this administration will continue to work very hard to deliver on the mandate.”

“From next month, we also hope to start paying the new minimum wage of N70,000,” the governor announced.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has taken his free education policy to the next level by extending it to senior secondary schools in Anambra State. This move builds on his earlier initiative that provided free education to primary and junior secondary schools. Now, students in senior secondary schools will no longer pay tuition fees, previously set at N5,00. This expansion ensures that all students, from primary to senior secondary school, can access quality education without financial burdens.

Key Highlights of the Free Education Policy:

Free Education for All: Primary, junior, and senior secondary schools in public schools will now be tuition-free.

Increased Accessibility: This policy aims to increase children's access to education, promoting effective development of their personality, talents, mental, and physical abilities.

Human Capital Development: Governor Soludo's administration remains committed to investing in human capital development, recognizing education as a key driver of progress.

Minimum Wage Increase: The governor also announced a N70,000 minimum wage, set to commence in October, further demonstrating his commitment to improving the standard of living for Anambra residents.

This development is a significant step towards ensuring equal access to quality education for all Anambra students, regardless of socioeconomic background.
