Girona climb out of the relegation zone with a thrilling 2-1 win over Real Sociedad, thanks to Viktor Tsygankov's late double.
Girona had seemed to be struggling to get back into the game, but they suddenly found an equaliser 15 minutes...
Viktor Tsygankov's late brace secured Girona's first away win of the LaLiga season, lifting them out of the relegation zone. The Ukrainian striker scored two goals in the final minutes to give Girona a 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad at Anoeta Stadium.
Real Sociedad had a promising start, with Takefusa Kubo firing over the crossbar from Ander Barrenetxea's cross inside the first 90 seconds. However, Girona's defense held firm, and they went on to capitalize on their chances in the final minutes.
Tsygankov's double was enough to secure Girona's first away win of the season, and it comes at a crucial time for the strugglers. They move out of the relegation zone, while Real Sociedad's struggles continue.
The hosts, Real Sociedad, dominated possession and created chances, but it was their goalkeeper Alex Remiro who made the first notable save in the 21st minute, tipping Tsygankov's curling effort around the post.
Sociedad's lack of quality in the final third was evident, but that changed 10 minutes before half-time. Captain Igor Zubeldia's through ball from his own half sliced through the Girona defence, and Goncalo Guedes seized the opportunity, taking three touches before firing low past Paulo Gazzaniga.
Goncalo Guedes' goal was a big boost for Real Sociedad, and his past record suggested they were on track for a big win. The forward's previous four goals had all come in games where his team won and scored at least three goals, a trend Sociedad will have been confident of continuing.
The hosts saw out the rest of the half comfortably, leading at the interval for only the second time in LaLiga this season. They had the upper hand, but Girona were still in the game.
Girona started the second half brightly, pushing for an equalizer. Skipper Arnau Martinez and Azzedine Ounahi both had chances, but their efforts were wide of the post.

Girona had seemed to be struggling to get back into the game, but they suddenly found an equaliser 15 minutes from time. A long ball was collected by Ounahi, who dinked a perfectly-weighted cross into the path of Tsygankov, and the Ukrainian striker lifted the shot beyond Remiro for his second goal of the season.
The momentum had shifted, and Girona sealed the win nine minutes later. Alex Moreno broke into the penalty area and crossed low towards Tsygankov, whose clever backheel bamboozled Remiro and found the bottom corner, completing Girona's dramatic comeback win.
Real Sociedad were left stunned, unable to reply as they suffered their third successive league defeat, leaving them 14th in the table. Girona, on the other hand, have risen above Mallorca into 17th, winning for only the second time in 17 LaLiga away trips.
