A 19-year-old woman in Lagos State allegedly fatally stabbed her neighbor's son, 20, after a romantic affair turned sour. The incident occurred on September 8, 2024, and the suspect is currently in police custody.

Chaos erupted in Sebiotimo, a neighborhood along ljagemo Road in ljegun, Lagos State, on Sunday, September 8, after a 19-year-old woman allegedly fatally stabbed her neighbor's son during a heated confrontation.

According to a confidential source, the suspect and the 20-year-old victim had a prior romantic relationship, which may have contributed to the altercation that led to the tragic event.

The source revealed that the dispute turned violent when the woman engaged in a physical fight with the victim, resulting in his death. The suspect was promptly apprehended and taken into custody by authorities following the incident.

The altercation took a deadly turn when the woman allegedly grabbed a broken bottle and inflicted a fatal neck wound on the victim, leading to his tragic demise.

Despite efforts to rush the victim to the hospital for urgent medical attention, he sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away en route.

The police report was filed on September 9, 2024, at the Isheri-Oshun Division, where a distraught father reported that his son had been engaged in a dispute with a neighbor, which ultimately ended in tragedy.

“The division raced to the scene where the lifeless body of the deceased was seen on the ground, facing up in a pool of blood with a deep cut on his neck.

“The corpse has been removed and deposited at the Mainland General Hospital in Yaba for autopsy.”

On Wednesday, September 11, a local resident shared insight into the incident, revealing that the victim and the suspect were rumored to have had a romantic relationship in the past.

According to the resident's account, the events leading up to the tragedy unfolded when the deceased allegedly provoked the suspect on the day of the incident, prompting her to grab a broken bottle and inflict a fatal neck wound on him.

The police spokesperson confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and an investigation has been launched to determine the events leading up to the incident and the circumstances surrounding the fatal altercation.

“They were exchanging words. People said they had been intimate before, so that's why they were arguing.

“The boy didn't touch or hit her, she just rushed to grab a bottle and stabbed him. I think she was hurt by what he said.

“What the boy said triggered something in her, so she stabbed him out of anger.”

According to the police spokesperson, the exact words or actions of the deceased that triggered the suspect's violent response are still unknown, and the investigation is ongoing to determine the specifics of the altercation.

In a similar incident that occurred in February 2024, a middle-aged woman in the Ajegunle area of the state fatally stabbed her neighbor, whose identity was not disclosed. The police command arrested and detained the suspect in connection with the crime.
