Brazilian Influencer Divorces from Herself
Self-Marriage Ends
“The pressure I put on myself was overwhelming.”
Brazilian influencer Sullen Carey ends her year-long self-marriage, seeking a new chapter and openness to traditional love after a journey of self-discovery.
London-based Brazilian influencer and model, Sullen Carey, has ended her self-marriage after just one year. Last year, Carey made global headlines when she tied the knot with herself in a sologamy ceremony, a bold celebration of self-love and independence.
Carey's unconventional union sparked widespread media attention, captivating her 400,000 Instagram followers and beyond. Now, after a year of self-marriage, Carey has decided to go her separate way – from herself.
After a year of self-marriage, Sullen Carey decided to call it quits despite her best efforts to make it work. In a bid to salvage her solo union, Carey remarkably attended couple therapy sessions – alone. She underwent 10 introspective sessions to navigate her emotions.
However, Carey eventually realized that ending her self-marriage was the best decision for her well-being. “The pressure I put on myself was overwhelming,” she admitted, revealing the emotional strain. Although marrying herself was an enriching experience and journey of self-discovery, Carey asserts she has no regrets about moving on.
“I realised my sologamous marriage was a healing process, but personal growth can lead us in different directions,” she explained.
Carey is turning the page and welcoming new possibilities, including a traditional partnership.
“I've decided it's time to move on and open my heart to new possibilities, including finding a partner.”
