Max Air suspends operations indefinitely due to hunger protests, prioritizing passenger safety...

Nigerian carrier Max Air has announced that it will be suspending all operations indefinitely, effective Friday, August 2, in response to the widespread hunger protests in the country. This move makes Max Air the first airline to completely halt flights, whereas other airlines have only experienced delays and disruptions due to reduced passenger demand.

In a statement, Max Air cited the need to ensure a safe and reliable travel experience for its passengers as the reason for the suspension. The airline emphasized that passenger safety is its top priority, suggesting that the current situation in the country poses a significant risk to this core value.

“We regret to inform you that due to the general unrest in the country, we have temporarily suspended our domestic flight operations for Friday, August 2.

“Please know that your safety remains our top priority, and this decision has been made in the interest of ensuring a secure and reliable travel experience.

“Throughout this period, our dedicated customer service team remains available via our social media channels, emails, and phone lines.

“We are here to answer your questions, provide updates, and assist in any way we can,” the airline said.

It again apologized to its customers for any frustration the decision might have caused.
