Miguel Herrera is a Mexican coach who formerly led the national team of his nation as well as a number of elite Mexican teams, including Monterrey, Club America, Atlante, and Tijuana.

The NFF has recently revealed they would recruit a foreign coach to turn around the fortunes of the national team, with the Super Eagles' ambitions of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in utter disarray following their failure to win any of their four qualifiers.

They also revealed that the appointment of the new Super Eagles coach will take place prior to the start of the September 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

They anticipate, according to sources, that the technical committee would review their shortlist first before starting a new selection procedure.
