Ejike Ukwueze, a well-known politician in Enugu State, was shot and killed by unidentified assailants in the late hours of Friday, June 7.

It was discovered that Ukwueze was shot several times, leaving bullet holes evident in his car, and that he was slain while operating a vehicle in the Neke Odenigbo local area of the Enugu East Local Government Area.

According to reports, the dead was the younger brother of the late Chijioke Ukwueze, a legislator who represented the Isi-Uzo seat in the Enugu Assembly. Ukwueze passed away during a plenary session of the House in 2020.

“Yeah, I heard he was a strong contender. Aside from having the intention of running for the Local Government election, he was becoming a force in the Isi-Uzo political affairs, standing in for his dear late brother who was one of the most accepted and powerful political stakeholders in Isi-Uzo,” the source said.
