Lagos Airport to Go Solar to Cut Electricity Costs

FG intends to convert Lagos Airport to solar power due to a monthly electricity expenditure that exceeds N1bn.



The Federal Government reportedly spends N1 billion a month on energy at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos State, according to Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.


He added that the ministry wants to move to solar energy.


In honor of President Bola Tinubu's first year in office, Keyamo disclosed this information on Monday, May 27, during the ministerial press briefing in Abuja.


The Minister claims that the ministry is aggressively pursuing the adoption of environmentally friendly procedures to do away with the need for diesel in airport operations.


He stated that the ministry hopes to lower the high expenses of running the airports by investing in solar power systems, saving.
