Brazil Wins Bid to Host 2027 Women's World Cup
Women's World Cup 2027 will be held in Brazil
Brazil will host the 2027 Women's World Cup, according to the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA).
Following voting at the 74th FIFA Congress meeting on Friday in Bangkok, Thailand, the verdict was made public.
The united bid from Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany was defeated by Brazil's effort. 119 member associations supported the South American nation in the computerized ballot, whereas just 78 associations supported the combined European bid. The FIFA Council had previously chosen the previous hosts of the Women's World Cup; this was the first time the FIFA Congress had cast a vote.
Brazil is scheduled to host the elite women's football championship, making it the first nation in South America to do so.
Originally, South Africa was one of the nations bidding to host the competition, but it withdrew in November 2023 in order to prepare a strong bid for the World Cup in 2031.
Spain is the current champion as they defeated England in the 2023 edition final, which was co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, by a single goal.
The Nigerian Super Falcons made it to the second round of the competition, but the eventual runners-up prevailed.
The upcoming World Cup's schedule has not yet been revealed, however it is anticipated that it will have a format similar to the previous edition's 32-team structure.
