World Bank Gives Jigawa Flood Victims In 2022 N70 Million
THE World Bank plans to empower 20 carefully chosen and vetted farmer groups in Jigawa State by awarding them N70 million as part of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Sami Arid Landscapes (ACRESAL) project.
According to a state report, the initiative, which is being carried out in conjunction with the Jigawa administration, aims to give some of the areas that were severely impacted by the State's 2022 flood disaster more power.
During an official visit to Gamsarka and Dabi villages in Auyo and Ringim local government areas of the state, World Bank representative Mr. Ashada spoke with the beneficiary communities and expressed his delight over the proper plans and arraignment for the project's take-off in the state.
Mr Ashada noted, “I'm very happy to be in Dabi village in Ringim local government area, for the World Bank programme in Nigeria for the preparing, planning, and implementation of the Community Revolving Fund (CRF) on components of the ACRESAI.
“Community revolving fund (CRF) is a village-level fund to support community farmers cooperatives to undertake investment specific to the climate-smart agriculture intervention, the community/farmers groups will prepare investment/business plan and apply for loans from the CRF.
“I'm very happy to see Community revolving fund (CRF) in action on the ground in the community today. Another impressive is the involvement and coming together of the all stakeholders from the national to the state to local government and community level.”
Community/farmers groups will create investment/business plans and seek for loans from the CRF in order to support community farmers cooperatives in carrying out investments related to the climate-smart agriculture intervention.

The government's appreciation for Jigawa being included among the program's beneficiaries was conveyed by Dr. Nura Ibrahim, the state commissioner of environment for Jigawa.
“And another impressive of this project is part of the governor Malam Umar Namadi's 12 point agendas,” Dr. Nura Ibrahim clarified, adding that the Malam Umar Namadi-led administration is devoted to everything that would better the social and economic life of the people in the state.
He stated that great care was taken in creating the groups, and that each person was vetted before being accepted into a specific group.
Malam Ismaila gave the group members his word that they would adhere to the agreed-upon terms and conditions for the loans, both judicially and religiously.
