Following the 2023 election drama, Atiku and Wike both attend the PDP caucus meeting.

Atiku Abubakar, the People's Democratic Party's (PDP) nominee for president in the general elections of 2023, and Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), were in attendance at the PDP's national caucus meeting on Thursday, April 17, in Abuja.

The discussion took place in advance of the party's planned Thursday, April 18, National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

The former governor of the state of Rivers will be attending a PDP meeting for the first time following the 2023 presidential election.

Currently serving as the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike has been at odds with the PDP leadership and has not endorsed Atiku as the party's nominee for president in 2023.

In addition to publicly opposing Atiku's candidacy, Wike's choice to join President Bola Tinubu's government has exacerbated his differences with influential party figures.

The NEC meeting on Thursday is planned to cover important choices about the party's leadership as well as other matters including Wike's involvement in the party.

The governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, whom the FCT minister assisted in electing to office, and he do not share a positive political rapport.

The conflict between Wike and Fubara had become so bad that it forced Tinubu to step in and mediate a contentious peace agreement between the two after 27 pro-Wike lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly had their seats declared vacant due to their defection to the All Progressives Congress.
