THE Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the sports ministry have been urged to assist the Super Falcons in helping them “prepare properly and camp in Europe” for the 2024 Olympics by head coach Randy Waldrum.

The Falcons advanced to the Olympics for the first time since 2008 on Tuesday by defeating South Africa 1-0 overall.

Waldrum complimented the Falcons' performance against the Bayana Bayana in remarks made to the media following the game.

The players “deserve the opportunity to represent our country, Nigeria, in the best possible way,” he continued, pleading with the NFF that the team would require “proper training and transportation” in order to get ready for the Olympics.

“My plea and challenge is to the minister of sport, NFF, to help us prepare properly and camp in Europe,” Waldrum said.

“We need proper training and transportation. We need to do things right because these women deserve the opportunity to represent our country, Nigeria, in the best possible way.

“At the Olympics, every team is a top team, and when you look at our group, it is the group of death.”

Waldrum lamented the Super Falcons' Women's World Cup preparations last year. The American became embroiled in a verbal spat with the NFF after he accused them of failing to support the team.

This will be the Falcons' fourth Olympic appearance. In 2000, 2004, and 2008, they met the requirements to compete.

Nigeria, Brazil, Spain, and Japan will be in Group C of the women's football competition in Paris in 2024.

Paris, France is scheduled to host the Olympics from July 26 to August 11.
