SSA President Gift Johnbull Launches Anti-malaria Campaign

Gift Johnbull, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement in the South-South zone, led efforts to achieve “Zero Malaria” on World Malaria Day by managing, preventing, and transforming community narratives.


Every year on April 25, the world marks World Malaria Day to raise awareness of international efforts to fight the disease.


It was created by the World Health Assembly in 2007 and serves as a sobering reminder of the need for ongoing funding and political commitment to the prevention and control of malaria.


Anopheles mosquitoes carry the life-threatening disease malaria, which continues to be a major public health concern, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.


Its prevalence emphasizes the urgent need for coordinated action even though it is curable and avoidable.


Every year, World Malaria Day is observed with a different theme that focuses on different aspects of malaria prevention and control.


Gift Johnbull is leading the effort in energizing communities to change the narrative surrounding malaria in collaboration with stakeholders.


Initiatives are in place to equip communities with the knowledge and tools they need to effectively combat malaria, with an emphasis on controlling and preventing the disease.

The discussion explored the revolutionary potential of automated farming in transforming agricultural productivity and guaranteeing food security, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's renewed hope agenda on food sustainability.
