Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Will Be Hosted By Badaru In May
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be hosted by Chief of Defence Staff Mohammed Badaru in May.
Following Nigeria's first-ever participation in Harry's 2023 Invictus Games, which were held in Düsseldorf, Germany, Prince Harry and his spouse, Meghan Markle, will go to Nigeria in May.
On behalf of Chief of Defence Staff Mohammed Badaru, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be visiting.
Badaru, who attended the event the year before, had stated that if Nigeria was given the chance, she would be willing to host the games.
Nigeria, along with Colombia and Israel, were among the 21 participating nations that were newcomers to the Invictus Games in 2023, which welcomed 500 competitors.
As stated in a statement made by Brig-Gen. Tukur Vusau, acting director of defense information, “The visit is to consolidate Nigeria's stronghold at the game and the possibility of hosting the event in later years.”
According to the story, Harry claimed in his opening address that his wife was supporting the Nigerian team, with whom he and his wife had spent time.
Though his wife recently found out she of Nigerian descent, Prince Harry quipped that this year's competition would be stronger.
“Now, I'm not saying we play favourites in our home, but since my wife discovered she's of Nigerian descent, it's likely to get a little bit more competitive this year,” he said.
The Duchess did a genealogical test in 2022 and disclosed that she is 43% Nigerian? In the most recent episode of her podcast, Archetypes, Markle revealed her intention to find out more about her ancestry.
She stated, “I just had my genealogy done a couple of years ago. I'm 43% Nigerian,” adding, “I'm going to start to dig deeper into all of this because anyone that I've told, especially Nigerian women, are just like, what?”
The name “Amira Ngozi Lolo,” which has a regal connotation, was given to the Duchess of Sussex. Amira is the name of a warrior princess from a tale, while Ngozi means “blessed” and Lolo means “royal wife.”
Harry will be present at the 10th anniversary celebration of the Invictus Games at St. Paul's Cathedral in London on May 8. His wife, Meghan, will follow him to Nigeria shortly.
The couple will meet with service members and engage in a range of cultural events while they are here.
