Joshua Rogers, Kidnapped Correspondent For Channels TV, Regains Freedom
CHANNELS Television, who was abducted from his Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor, Rivers State, house, is now free again.
Less than a day after his kidnapping on Thursday, at around 10 p.m. on Friday, he was free once more.
His coworker Charles Oporum announced late on Friday that he had been freed, saying, “Yes, he has been released about an hour ago, and has reunited with his family.”
In a succinct statement, Channels Television management confirmed Rogers' discharge and thanked all parties involved, including viewers, for their support during the upsetting circumstance.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), a video that appeared later revealed Rogers having a celebration with his family after returning home.
It's still unknown what led to his release—whether it was because of security authorities stepping in or because someone paid a ransom.
Rescue efforts had been launched by the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Police as soon as they received information of his kidnapping.
Rogers is the Port Harcourt-based Government House Correspondent for Channels TV.
