Fleeing Binance Executive Found In Kenya
The Nigerian government locates a fled Binance executive in Kenya and begins the process of extradition.
Nadeem Anjarwalla, a Binance executive who escaped from police detention, has been located in Kenya, according to confirmation from the Nigerian authorities.
He will be extradited very soon, according to a source close to the president who confirmed this recent development.
This latest development was confirmed by a presidential source, who also mentioned that he will be extradited shortly.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Interpol, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Kenyan Police Service have increased their cooperation, he continued.
“We know where he is. He is in Kenya, and we're working with the authorities to bring him back to Nigeria,” the source disclosed.
Recall that in order to extradite Nadeem, who has been eluding capture, the EFCC Chairman Ola Olukuyede stressed in March the commission's cooperation with international authorities, including Interpol, the United States, the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, and Kenya.
Currency speculation, money laundering, and tax evasion are the charges brought against Anjarwalla, Tigran Gambaryan, and Binance Holdings Limited. The three were charged on Thursday, April 4 by the EFCC.
It was on March 22 when Nadeem broke free from police custody and has been missing ever since.
In other developments, the Nigerian government declared that the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has given complete authority of the Binance case to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In response to Binance's suspected role in manipulating Nigeria's foreign currency market, the government has been waging a protracted crackdown.
However, Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Olayemi Cardoso disclosed that approximately $26 billion had been transferred through Binance covertly during the 293rd meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) in February.
