Germany Will Launch ‘Opportunity Card’ For Job Search In June 2024 For Immigrants

Germany to launch a program in June that will let skilled foreigners look for employment prospects

Beginning in June2024, Germany will allow those who meet the necessary requirements to apply for jobs within the nation using a new document known as a “Opportunity Card.”

This will make it possible for qualified job searchers to live and work in Germany.

The Opportunity Card makes it easier for applicants to get employment in Germany. It enables people to work in Germany without having to go through a drawn-out recognition procedure.

If the bearer can sustain himself during that time, opportunity cards may be issued for up to a year. For a maximum of 20 hours per week while they are in Germany, the holder is permitted to participate in work trials or secondary employment.

The opportunity card may be renewed for a further two years if the holder is offered suitable employment but is unable to secure another resident title due to work-related circumstances.

A university degree, a vocational qualification of at least two years' duration (recognized by the state in the training nation in each case), or a vocational qualification awarded by a German Chamber of Commerce Abroad are the requirements for eligibility.

The candidate also has to speak English (B2) or German (A1) fluently.

Points are granted for factors like age, professional experience, language proficiency, age recognition of qualifications in Germany, and the possibility of bringing spouses or partners when these prerequisites are met.

A minimum of six points must be earned by applicants in order to be granted an opportunity card.
