The Falcons lit up the Saints for 45 points as Bijan Robinson continued to shine.
Atlanta Falcons running backs Bijan and Brian Robinson tore apart the Saints in a 45-24 win on Monday, spoiling the party on an emotional night in New Orleans.
The Robinsons no relation combined for five rushing touchdowns to silence a crowd that had arrived in high spirits for celebrations marking 20 years since the Superdome reopened after Hurricane Katrina.
The Saints responded with two rushing touchdowns from Alvin Kamara, a third caught by Devaughn Vele, and a field goal early in the second half that drew boos from supporters frustrated by coach Kellen Moore's apparent lack of trust in his offense on fourth down.
The NFC South victory sent the Falcons revitalized since quarterback Michael Penix Jr. returned in their previous game top of their division alongside Carolina at 2-2, while New Orleans dropped to 1-3.
“I love the primetime game under the lights. Like, it just brings out a different energy, and I just love it for this team,” said Bijan Robinson.
The game was a rematch of the original “Domecoming” in late September 2006, when the Superdome reopened after sustaining extensive damage during Hurricane Katrina.
Katrina hit the US Gulf Coast the previous year, causing catastrophic flooding. More than 1,000 people died in the disaster.

The Superdome served as a last-resort shelter for 30,000 evacuees even after the hurricane ripped a 50-foot hole in its massive white roof, which was quickly repaired.
The original “Domecoming” game ended in a 23-3 win for the Saints, but the home fans' celebrations were short-lived on Monday once the football got underway.
Bijan coming off two touchdowns in a stunning display against Green Bay rushed for another on the second play of the night.

He weaved his way 59 yards without a single Saints player laying a hand on him.
New Orleans contributed to its own downfall, missing a field goal, turning the ball over on a fumble, and then conceding a holding penalty when an Atlanta 4th-and-goal attempt had appeared to fail.
Bijan made them pay, rushing for his second touchdown.
Hard to toe tap in the back of the end zone better than this 😮 @ATLvsNO on ESPN Stream on @NFLPlus https://t.co/EXTyGhMkTb

This time, the Saints hit back immediately. Quarterback Tyler Shough threw a 44-yard pass to Chris Olave, followed by Kamara rushing into the end zone.
But Brian Robinson Jr. added touchdowns in the second and third quarters, rendering Kamara's second score meaningless.
Jahan Dotson added another touchdown from a 31-yard Penix pass, before Brian Robinson Jr. scored his third.

Vele took a superb catch for a late consolation touchdown with barely a minute remaining.
