Former Finance Commissioner of Akeredolu, Akinterinwa, Honors EFCC Invitation
WALE Akinterinwa, an aspirant for the governorship position in Ondo State, will be hosted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) this Thursday, following his participation in the party's direct primary election.
However, the governorship candidate refuted the report as he took to his X handle (formerly Twitter) on Thursday morning to announce his readiness to honor the invitation. A national daily had reported that Akinterinwa had visited the EFCC office after being invited to come and explain certain transactions of Ondo State government under his stewardship running into billions of Naira, since last week, and that he was then detained throughout the weekend during the APC governorship primary election.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who succeeded the late Governor Akeredolu, abolished the State Executive Council (SEC). Akinterinwa was a Commissioner for more than seven years.
Following Akeredolu's passing in December 2023, he declared that Akinterinwa, his late principal, had been his choice to succeed him as governor in the Ondo State governorship contest of 2024.
