FG Launches A Program To Distribute Grains
THE Federal Government of Nigeria has begun distributing 42,000 metric tons of grain, beginning in Sokoto State, to help poor Nigerians.
President Bola Tinubu issued an order that this program is in response to, with the goal of alleviating food shortages and economic difficulties.
On Monday, April 8, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) made the announcement via its official X (Twitter) page.
According to NEMA, a number of government departments are working closely together to guarantee that these food supplies are distributed fairly and effectively across the country.
The message in the tweet says, “The Federal Government has flagged off presentation of assorted food items to State Government for distribution as palliatives to vulnerable persons as directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to cushion the impacts of global economic situation being experienced in the country.
“Recall that the President had approved the release of 42,000MT assorted grains. from the National Strategic Reserve to be distributed to the vulnerable persons across the states.
“In adherence to the directive, collaborative efforts were undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the Office of the National Security Adviser, and the National Emergency Management Agency to coordinate the planning and transportation of the food supplies.
“Zubaida Umar, the Director General of NEMA, representing the Federal Government, officially initiated the handover ceremony to Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State.
“Those present included Sen Abubakar Kyari, the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Malagi, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, and Sen Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security. Sen Kyari commended NEMA and security agencies for their meticulous efforts.”
Mohammed Malagi, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, underlined that the distribution will benefit all states in the nation and reaffirmed the government's commitment to openness by guaranteeing frequent updates on the distribution's status.
