Delta Police Rescue 9 Students Who Were Kidnapped
THE State Police Command has freed nine students who were abducted along the East-West Road in Ughelli, Delta State.
The children were abducted on Monday, April 1, while they were riding in a minibus, likely heading back from their Cross River State school in Calabar.
The state police public relations officer, Edafe Bright, confirmed the successful rescue late on Monday by posting on social media, saying, “All nine of the victims have regained their freedom, pls.”
Luckily, the bus driver was unharmed, and there were no reports of ransom demands.
The police had moved quickly to locate and free the students who had been kidnapped.
“The command is aware of this ugly incident, and we are doing all it takes to ensure that they are rescued unhurt,” reads a post from the state PPRO.
This event occurred on March 7, less than a month after 137 students from Government Secondary School and LEA Primary School in Kaduna State were abducted.

Unfortunately, complications during the kidnapping resulted in the death of the teacher, Mallam Abubakar.
The governor declared during a short ceremony that N10,000,000 would be donated to the family of their instructor who went away from health issues.
Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, promised to give the pupils who had been rescued free education after they were saved.
The governor underlined that in order to aid the pupils in their recovery from the experience, psychologists would provide counseling and therapy.
