FEDERAL High Court in Abuja postponed the tax evasion lawsuit involving Binance Holdings Limited and its executives on Thursday, April 4.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) filed a lawsuit against the business, claiming that in order to calculate and pay its value-added taxes, the business neglected to send trading subscribers bills.

In addition to Binance, the action names officials Nadeem Anjarwalla, who is currently at large, and Tigran Gambaryan.

On Thursday, April 4, the meeting was adjourned because Gambaryan, who is being held by the EFCC, could not be served by the FIRS.

The EFCC is leading a case alleging money laundering at the same time.

Gambaryan's involvement was clarified in a statement released by Binance.

They made it clear that Gambaryan, an American citizen, works as a law enforcement officer rather than being a member of the company's management.

Binance emphasized his commitment to law enforcement and compliance, emphasizing his part in helping international agencies freeze and seize assets.

According to Binance, Gambaryan led the Financial Crime Compliance team and was appointed in 2021 to handle compliance-related concerns.

They underlined how dedicated he is to promoting regulatory transparency and sound governance.

A part of the statement says, “Tigran is a strict law enforcement professional and is not part of Binance management. While he has left the official service of the U.S. government, he has remained fully committed to the role of law enforcement officer ever since, operating as a global advocate for good governance and transparent regulatory financial practices.

“Binance respectfully requests that Tigran Gambaryan, who has no decision- making power in the company, is not held responsible while current discussions are ongoing between Binance and Nigerian government officials.”
