Project Abuja Rail is 95% complete — Wike

The Abuja light rail project is almost 95% finished, according to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, who also stated that President Bola Tinubu will inaugurate the project in May.

The revelation was made by the minister on Thursday during a courtesy call at his Abuja office by Pieter Leenknegt, the Belgian ambassador to Nigeria.

Leenknegt had expressed concerns about residents of the FCT having an alternate form of transportation.

The minister reaffirmed that his government is formulating a long-term plan to eradicate open grazing in the nation's capital.

According to Wike, the fact that the cattle rearers in question are FCT natives means that handling the situation will take time.
