DSS Issues A New Alert Regarding Bombings

Nigerians have been advised by the Department of State Services (DSS) to stay away from busy areas and dubious locations to minimize the risk of being harmed by improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

This was said in a message sent on Friday by Peter Afunanya, the EFCC spokesperson, wishing Christians and Muslims a happy Ramadan and Lent, respectively.

The DSS stated that in order to guarantee Nigerians' safety and tranquility both now and in the future, the advice has grown increasingly crucial.

Religious authorities, traditional leaders, and other interested parties were urged by Afunanya to abstain from profiteering, sabotage, and economic exploitation.

“Residents are advised to remain vigilant against public dangers especially Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs),” Afunanya said, “stressing that the service calls for tolerance, bonds of brotherhood, dialogue and peaceful coexistence among the populace,” the statement said.

“Also, the general public is urged to stay informed about potential threats; avoid crowded or suspicious areas and report to relevant security agencies any strange objects, activities and movements of hostile elements.”

He asserts that because the DSS acknowledges the importance of these rituals, it commands worshippers to foster compassion, understanding, and respect for one another both during and after the exercises.

“Accordingly, the Management extends its heartfelt felicitations for peace, unity and harmony to adherents of these faiths. The DSS recognises the significance of these sacred rites and enjoins worshippers to promote understanding, compassion and respect for one another during and after the exercises,” he said.

“It appeals to stakeholders to refrain from economic exploitation, sabotage or profiteering during these important obligations. This is more so that illegal practices such as price gouging or unethical marketing tactics are ungodly; violate fairness and can undermine the true essence of the holy events.”
