Pope Francis expresses worry about the high number of kidnapping cases in Nigeria

Pope Francis is worried over the rising kidnappings in Nigeria, describing them as “concerning.” He is also praying that efforts to contain the menace yield fruit “as much as possible.” The increasingly frequent kidnappings in Nigeria are extremely concerning.

Pope Francis, the leader of the Catholic Church, has expressed concern about the growing number of kidnapping incidents in Nigeria.

He showed his support for Nigerians and prayed for action to stop the threat on Sunday, February 25, using his X account, which was formerly known as Twitter.

He wrote: “The increasingly frequent kidnappings in Nigeria are extremely concerning.

“I express my closeness in prayer to the Nigerian people, hoping that efforts will be made to contain the spread of these incidents as much as possible.”

The Pope's comments coincide with an increase in kidnappings in Nigeria for ransom, which has spread to places like the Federal Capital Territory, where people living in estates and border communities fear being taken away.

The incidents are still happening despite security agencies' constant announcements of several suspects being apprehended across the nation
