Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) members demonstrated against the nation's ongoing economic woes in the streets of Ikeja, Lagos State. The demonstrators moved through the busy streets, chanting slogans and brandishing banners as they called for attention to their complaints.
The Federal Government was given a 14-day ultimatum, which the NLC decided to honor by holding this protest. To solve the people's economic problems, the ultimatum called for swift action.

The main reason for the protest is also the belief that the government has not complied with the agreements made on October 2, 2023, which followed the contentious elimination of the fuel subsidy. The NLC contends that the measures that were agreed upon during negotiations to lessen the widespread hardship have not been implemented effectively.
Recently, the federal government and NLC officials met at the last minute, but the talks broke down in impasse, so the union decided to move forward with the protest.
Similarly, NLC members in Plateau State and Abuja have banded together to protest the current hardships alongside their counterparts in Lagos.
