CUPP Lambasts Tinubu For Including Two Sons In Nigeria's Delegates To Qatar
President Tinubu is allegedly misleading the public about reducing the cost of governance by including his two sons in Nigeria's delegation to Qatar, according to the CUPP.
The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has expressed disapproval over the decision to send President Bola Tinubu's kids along with Nigeria's delegation to a business and investment forum in Qatar.
Tinubu, along with 38 other people, including his sons, will be visiting Qatar on March 2 and 3, 2024, as part of a state visit. Two groups of the delegation are formed.
The first group of 16 individuals stated in the report are the governors of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Zulum; Kaduna State; Uba Sani; Minister of Foreign Affairs; Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy; Wale Edun; Minister of Solid Minerals; Dele Alake; National Security Advisor; Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; and Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari.
Seyi Tinubu, Yinka Tinubu, PPS, Hakeem Muti-Okunola, SCOP, Ambassador Victor Adekunle Adeleke, PP, Dr. Ade Tinubu, and SSAP (Household), Subair Oluwatoyin comprise the second delegation of 22 individuals scheduled to arrive on February 29, 2024.
A national protest against poverty, hunger, and exorbitant living expenses is taking place at the same time as the trip.
Although Tinubu has pledged to reduce government expenses, a number of Nigerians have charged that the administration is merely making empty threats and is not fully committed to following through.
However, in response to the list of Nigeria's delegation, CUPP questioned the reasoning, charging President Tinubu with being preoccupied with misleading Nigerians and suggesting that he is sincere about reducing the expense of governance while doing so.
The inclusion of Tinubu's sons was characterized by the CUPP as a blatant example of mishandling public funds and an evident display of governmental corruption in a statement released on Tuesday by its National Secretary, Ameh Peter.
“In what capacity is Seyi Tinubu and Yinka Tinubu, (sons of Bola A. Tinubu) traveling to Qatar on the official list of Nigeria's delegation to Qatar,” CUPP questioned.
