Tinubu Approves N12b Outstanding Payments To Super Eagles, Others



President Tinubu authorizes N12 billion in overdue payments for national teams and other entities



According to Sports Minister John Enoh, the approval will cover the senior national team, other national teams, female under-20 teams, and the Super Eagles coach, who is owed approximately $1.3 million.


The Super Eagles and other Nigerian national teams in a variety of sports have outstanding payments that President Bola Tinubu has approved for payment in the amount of N12 billion.


The payment includes paying allowances and promises owed to the senior national teams, women, and Under-20 national team, as well as clearing the senior national team coaches' salaries for up to 15 months, according to a statement posted on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Media Center's X handle.


The statement reads, “President @officialABAT has approved the payment of N12billon outstanding backlog for Nigeria's National teams of various sports, which includes super eagles and others.


“The payment entails the clearing of the senior national team coach salaries running up to 15 months, payments of allowances and promises due to the senior national teams, females, and Under-20 national team,


“This is coming at a time when the Super Eagles of Nigeria are preparing to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations, which is billed to start later this month.”
