Supreme Court Affirms Election Of Nwifuru As Ebonyi Governor
The Supreme Court on Friday upheld the election of Francis Nwifuru as the Governor of Ebonyi State
Francis Nwifuru, an All Progressives Congress (APC) member, was duly elected governor of Ebonyi State by the Supreme Court.
The PDP's Chukwuma Odii appeal was dismissed by the Court of Appeal in Lagos due to lack of merit, and the ruling was upheld by the highest court.
The election of Nwifuru as the legitimately elected governor of Ebonyi State in the March 18 governorship election was upheld by the Court of Appeal in Lagos last November.
The appeal was dismissed for lack of merit after the panel addressed all five of the issues brought up against the appellant.
The PDP and its candidate did not have the legal authority to interfere with the All Progressives Congress's internal affairs concerning candidate nominations, according to Justice Sankey's ruling.
The Nwifuru was proclaimed the winner of the March 18 election in Ebonyi State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
