Army Rescues 45 Abducted Passengers On Benue-Enugu Express Without Paying Ransom

Earlier, the Nigerian Army was able to free 45 hostages who had been abducted along the Benue-Enugu expressway.

Several of the kidnappers have been apprehended, and the valiant soldiers were able to secure their release without having to pay any ransom.

Gunmen on the Otukpo-Enugu Road in Orokam, Benue State, attacked and kidnapped passengers in three commercial buses with fifteen seats on Thursday night. The attackers are thought to be kidnappers.

The attackers, who were heavily armed, ambushed the cars and made the drivers stop at gunpoint.

The families of the abducted passengers and the armed men had begun negotiating a ransom.

Negotiations resulted in the kidnappers settling for N3 million per person after initially demanding N15 million for each passenger. But the lines of communication were suddenly cut off, leaving families to wonder what became of their loved ones.

As reported by Wurumum Park transportatin company manager revealed that about 45 passengers were involved in the kidnapping.

When family members approached the company at the park to inquire about information, they denied any involvement and clarified that they had no contact with the kidnappers.

The manager observed that because of the bad state of the road, which made it simpler for them to intercept, armed men most likely targeted the cars. He described the event as a burly young man pulling an automatic rifle and a chain of rounds out of the bush.

When contacted, SP Catherine Anene, the public relations officer for the Benue State Police, said that the command was unaware of the incident, despite the gravity of the situation.
