Ibadan Explosion: Oyo Sets Up Situation Hub For Victims
Government of Oyo State Establishes Emergency Center for Ibadan Explosion Victims
Fatai Owoseni, the State Governor's Special Advisor on Security Issues
A Situation Hub has been established by the Oyo State government for the victims of Tuesday's explosion. The State Housing Corporation's property, which is close to the Bodija Islamic Center in Ibadan, is home to the situation hub.
Speaking to reporters at the blast site on Wednesday, Fatai Owoseni, the governor's special adviser on security matters, revealed this. Additionally, according to Owoseni, victims, locals, and landlords had been urged to visit the area and provide the government with accurate information.
According to him, the state government has sent disaster management specialists to the hub to handle a variety of potential emergencies.
“We cannot do a proper assessment for now. Rescue operations are, however, still ongoing, as victims, landlords, and tenants of the estates are still picking their pieces from their houses. We can't talk to them now for any assessment and evaluation,” he said.
Owoseni asked anyone not assigned to a critical task at the scene to leave in order to prevent additional casualties in the event of secondary explosions.
“We can't ascertain any further security threat around the blast scene, as some people here are around to steal people's property, this set of people is the first security threat here. We cannot say whether there will be a secondary explosion. Therefore, people should stay away from the scene so that if we have any, we will not lose more lives,” he said.
