Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde has hinted that illegal miners operating in the state were responsible for the explosion



The explosion that occurred in Ibadan on Tuesday night may have been caused by illegal miners operating in the state, according to Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde's indications.


The explosion caused extensive damage to several buildings in Ologuneru, Apete, New Garage, Bashorun, Akobo, Sango, and Eleyele, as well as to a portion of the Governor's Office, Secretariat, Oyo State House of Assembly, and the home of Chief Bola Ige, the former Attorney General and Minister of Justice.


According to the governor, an early investigation showed that the explosion was caused by explosive devices that the illegal miners had stored in one of the houses.


The Governor confirmed in a statement that two individuals had passed away and that 77 others were still in the process of receiving medical attention at various public and private hospitals following his visit to the scene and other hospitals where the injured were being treated.
