In an EFCC statement on X, Olukoyede expressed concern over the fact that seven out of ten Nigerian students are currently engaged in cybercrimes.
On Monday, while hosting a delegation from Daar Communication PLC on a courtesy visit to the EFCC's corporate offices in Jabi, Abuja, he made the call.
“We are looking towards Daar Communications to enlighten our youths on the evils of cyber crimes. It is worrisome that seven out of ten students today are involved in cyber crimes,” Olukoyede said.
The chairman of the EFCC urged the media to create programs that educate young people in Nigeria about the evils of crime.
“These are the youths we are preparing to be leaders of tomorrow. The media should not relent in enlightening them on the evils of such criminal practices.”
He criticized the consequences of young people engaging in online criminal activity, calling it a threat and a social cankerworm.
Olukoyede demanded that young people around the nation be educated by the media on the consequences of engaging in online fraud.
