The leadership of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, sobbed in front of thousands of women while urging them to procreate in order to stop the nation's decreasing birth rate.


On Sunday, December 3, Kim Jong Un addressed thousands of women at the National Mothers' Meeting in Pyongyang and was seen wringing his hands and crying.

Kim stated at the occasion that “all of our housekeeping duties we need to handle while working with mothers is preventing a decline in birth rates and providing good childcare.” He also urged women to instill the values of his communist party in their children.


Along with their leader, the women who attended the event wearing traditional multicolored clothing w£pt.


The first National Mothers' Meeting in eleven years took place in the midst of a decline in the birth rate in the isolationist state, which has top officials in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) concerned.


Kim addressed the crowd as “Dear Mothers,” saying, "Our mothers should join us to tackle the host of social tasks that we are confronted with.”

These tasks, he said, “include bringing up their children so that they will steadfastly carry forward our revolution, eliminating the recently-increasing non-socialist practices, promoting family harmony and social unity. establishing a sound way of cultural and moral life, making the communist virtues and traits of helping and leading one another forward prevail over our society, stopping the declining birth rate, and taking good care of children and educating them effectively.


“These belong to our common family affairs, which we need to deal with by joining hands with our mothers,” he added.


He continued by saying that his government considered the gathering of mothers to be "no less important than a party congress or a plenary meeting of the Party Central Committee, in view of our mothers' position and role in their families and society."


According to reports, North Korea's population was 24 million when it released its most recent census in 2008. Current estimates put the number of people living there at 25.7 million.
