Shettima's Assistant Addresses Obi's Disapproval Of The N15 Billion VP's Housing Budget
Peter Obi is attempting to damage our reputation, Shettima said, defending the N15 billion allotment for his new home
Through his spokeswoman Stanley Nkwocha, Kashim Shettima has refuted Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party's 2023 presidential contender, accusing him of wastefulness and defended the N15 billion grant for a new residential building.
He asserted, “It was not originated by the present administration,” underscoring the project's historical roots in the administration of previous President Goodluck Jonathan.
Nkwocha stated that Obi purposefully disregarded the project's past in order to gain political points and accused Obi of trying to discredit Bola Tinubu's administration. The spokesman emphasized that the project had been abandoned for more than ten years, and that the incomplete building had become “overtaken by weeds and reptiles.” Nkwocha claims that Nyesom Wike, the current minister of the Federal Capital Territory, chose to restart construction after realizing how wasteful it would be to drop a project that was financed by public money.
He disputed Obi's assessment of the project as wasteful, calling on “more cerebral Nigerians to crosscheck properly” and highlighting the administration's resolve to seeing important projects across the country that have been abandoned completed.
Nkwocha ended by saying, “The array of abandoned Federal Government projects littered all over the country is a national embarrassment that the current administration has taken a bold step to save the country from.” He emphasized that, with the exception of situations involving strategic alignment or economic relevance, finishing current initiatives continues to take precedence over starting new ones.
