US comedian kidnapped and killed In Colombia while on vacation after going on a date with woman he met online



Tou Ger Xiong, a well-known Asian-American comedian and activist, was abducted and murdered while on vacation in Colombia.


Authorities in Colombia discovered him dead on Monday, December 11, in Medellin, following his visit to meet a woman he had been corresponding with online.


Traveling to Medellin on vacation, the fifty-year-old Laotian refugee, who called himself America's “first Hmong comedian,” arrived on November 29.


His brother, Eh Xiong, told KSTP-TV, the local news station, that he last spoke with his brother on Sunday night, when he requested $2,000, which he sent. Tou Ger Xiong never acknowledged having received the funds.


Eh Xiong further stated that he called Tou Ger Xiong's roommate after a few hours went by without hearing back, and the roommate informed him that Tou Ger Xiong had also called him and claimed to be “held at gnpoint.”


The body of Tou Ger Xiong, who had over a dozen stab wounds, was found the following day next to a ravine in a forested area of Medellin's Robledo neighborhood, according to authorities.


Colombian investigator Yiri Milena Amado told local media in a press conference that Tou Ger Xiong went to meet the woman on Sunday and at 7 p.m. he contacted someone in the United States asking for $2,000. Authorities said they believed he may have been killed after he tried to escape.
