Landlord Bags Double Life Imprisonment For Sexually Assaulting Tenant’s 2 Children
Landlord sentenced by the court to double life in prison for molesting the children of his tenant
Igwe Ambrose, 65, was given a double life sentence by the Ikeja Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Court on Monday for poking his fingers into his tenant's children's private areas, who are seven and eleven years old.
Judge Abiola Soladoye declared that Ambrose's four counts of indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault by penetration had been established beyond a reasonable doubt by the prosecution.
Soladoye claimed that the defendant was a dirty old man who, despite appearing to provide the survivors help with their schooling, stroked and caressed their breasts in an inappropriate manner.
She stated the defendant was identified and that the evidence from the survivor proved he was a dishonest, unworthy, and unreliable liar.
“The children decided to open up to their mother, who then informed her husband; he thereafter confronted the defendant and the matter was reported to a police station.
“The police visited the scene and the defendant was invited to the police station where he denied the allegations against him.”
As a result, the judge ruled the defendant guilty on all four charges, which were based on his alleged violations of Sections 135 and 261 of the 2015 Criminal Laws of Lagos State.
The mother of the survivors, the IPO, which produced five exhibits, and two survivors were the four witnesses that Mrs. Olufunke Adegoke, the State Counsel, called.
The defendant allegedly committed the offenses at Shagari Estate in Ipaja, Lagos, between January and June of 2021, according to the prosecution.
