Kidnapped Kaduna student released by bandits after two years of imprisonment

After two years in captivity, Treasure Ayuba, the final victim of the Bethel High School student kidnapped in Kaduna, has been released.

In the wee hours of Monday, July 5, 2021, gunmen raided a church-owned school in Damishi, Kaduna, abducting 121 kids.

Ayuba was the final victim to be set free, with others having already been freed. On Thursday, November 2, 2023, he was freed, and he has since been back with his family.

Rev. Israel Akanji, the president of the Nigeria Baptist Convention (NBC), announced his release in a statement and said: "Glory be to God! Glory be to God!! Glory be to God!!! Treasure Ayuba, the last boy who was still with the bandits who kidnapped the 121 students of Bethel Baptist High School, Kaduna, on July 5, 2021, has just returned home.

"Thanks be to our unfailing God. Thank you also very much for your prayers and numerous support."
