Disaster Struck Nepal As Many People Reported Dead
Earthquake rocked Nepal at least 150 people feared dead, while some have been injured
A Friday, November 3 earthquake in Nepal's Jajarkot district claimed the lives of at least 150 people.
The magnitude 6.4 earthquake, which struck at 11:47 p.m. (1802 GMT), also caused numerous injuries and destroyed a large number of homes.
Strong earthquakes were felt far away in the capital of Nepal as well as in nearby towns in India, including Delhi, according to the BBC.
Since they were unable to make touch in the steep region close to the epicentre, which is some 500 kilometers (300 miles) west of the capital Kathmandu, where tremors were also detected, officials feared the death toll might increase. There are 190,000 people living in the area, which is made up of isolated hillside communities.
Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the prime minister of Nepal, expressed his "deep sorrow" on social networking site X at the loss of life and property caused by the earthquake before traveling to the damaged area on Saturday.
"I am in the affected area to understand the damage of last night's devastating earthquake, to rescue the injured and to relieve the victims. appeal to all political parties and civil society for cooperation and hand in hand in this work while informing them that the government is serious about providing relief to the victims and treating the injured," he said.
