"Stop panic buying, we have fuel for 30 days" - NNPC Assures Nigerians

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring enough fuel supply to Nigerians on Thursday, October 19, 2023, allaying worries in the wake of the current fuel shortage and lengthy lines at gas stations around the nation.


The government-owned oil corporation acknowledged the difficulties Nigerians had recently encountered. due to a reduced depot loadout in Apapa, Lagos, especially.


However, NNPC took action to deal with the underlying source of the issue, making sure that steps are taken to restore normalcy to the fuel distribution system.


"We assure all Nigerians that there is ample supply with sufficiency of at least 30 days," the statement from NNPC declared, stating their dedication to meeting the nation's fuel demands.


The downstream arm of NNPC, NNPC Retail Ltd., confirmed that there were fuel lines in some areas of Lagos and a few other places around the country. They cautioned drivers from buying in a hurry, stating that normal fuel delivery would resume over the next few days.


The statement emphasized that the current shortage was only a short-term problem brought on by a decreased depot loadout in Apapa, which has since been fixed. The public was reassured by NNPC that steps were being taken to stop any more hiccups in the fuel supply.
