Alhaji Mansur Nuhu Bamalli, the ambassador of Nigeria to Morocco, has passed away.

He was also the Magajin Garin Zazzau and the Emir of Zazzau's younger brother via blood.

According to a statement from the Zazzau emirate council's media and publicity officer, Mansur Nuhu Bamalli passed away at a Lagos private hospital while traveling to Morocco.

The declaration added that, "funeral prayers will be announced later."

He leaves behind a wife and two children. The dead was nominated a year earlier by former president Muhammadu Buhari.

The appointment was made in appreciation of your decades of excellent service to our fatherland in the Nigerian Foreign Service, according to a letter dated October 7 and signed by the then-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama.

"You shall be invited in due course for the ceremony of investiture. Please, accept my warm felicitations and those of the Honourable Minister of State, the Permanent Secretary and the entire staff of the Ministry," the letter read.

He served as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' deputy director prior to his appointment.

Nigeria's professional and non-career ambassadors serving in 300 foreign embassies throughout the world were to be recalled, but they have not yet arrived home due to logistical issues, including lack of authority to incur expenditures (AlEs) for passages.

The specifics of each envoy's eligibility with regard to their passes and other travel arrangements to return to Nigeria are contained in AIEs.
