The late gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu's husband attempted to have the accusations against him dismissed, but the court denied his request.

Through the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, the government took Peter Nwachukwu's case before the Federal Capital Territory High Court on charges of culpable homicide and domestic violence.

Before the prosecution had finished presenting its case, Nwachukwu's attorney had entered a no-case plea on behalf of his client, arguing that the allegations against him should be dropped.

Nwachukwu must now present a defense, and the court has chosen November 22–23 as the date for him to do so.

The late singer died on 8 April 2022, in Abuja, after years of domestic abuse.
