Governor Alex Otti Unveiled Plans For First Ever Southern Seaport
The first-ever seaport to be built in the Southeast has been proposed by Abia state governor Alex Otti.
According to the governor, the proposed seaport will be ideally situated within the boundaries of Abia State in Owazza, Ukwa East Local Government Area.
Additionally, an export processing zone and other facilities for business promotion, according to Governor Otti, would be present.
He claims that through enabling trade, luring investments, and generating job opportunities, the ports project is well-positioned to serve as a catalyst for economic growth in the Southeast.
He added that considerable expenditures in the infrastructure of transportation and logistics will be required for the building of the harbor.
It is hoped that the project will encourage balanced regional development and so open up more economic opportunities for the Southeast.
The project is expected to officially start on September 30, 2023.
