FG Takes Action To Prevent National Strike
FG takes action to prevent a strike and calls an emergency meeting with the NLC and TUC
There are signs that the Federal Government, in a last-ditch effort to prevent their upcoming statewide strike on October 3, has called an emergency meeting with the heads of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).
Later on Friday night, the meeting is scheduled to take place in the conference room of Aso Villa, which houses the office of the Chief of Staff to the President.
According to sources, the federal government originally scheduled the meeting for midday but changed the time to allow the unions to contact their leaders outside of Abuja.
The government's invitation was delivered to the NLC and its TUC equivalent on Friday morning via the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
