EPL: Why I Chose To Take The Penalty Against Palace Rather Than Saka - Odegaard

Martin Odegaard, the captain of Arsenal, has given an explanation for choosing to take the key penalty against Crystal Palace rather than Bukayo Saka.

Despite being the Gunners' go-to shooter last season, Saka missed against West Ham as their chances of winning the Premier League title vanished.

On Monday night, Eddie Nketiah was fouled by Palace goalkeeper Sam Johnstone in the box with the score at 0-0.

Although Saka first scooped up the ball, Odegaard ultimately put it in play and scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal.

"We have been taking [penalties] in pre-season a lot and I've scored all of mine.

"So I just asked him [Bukayo Saka] and he gave it to me. So I have to thank him for that one," Odegaard said according to the UK Metro
