UGWUANYI, MAKINDE, AND OTHERS ATTEND THE 59TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS OF THE NIGERIAN AIR FORCE
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, his governor-colleague, Engr. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, the Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (South) Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, and the PDP National Vice Chairman (South East), Chief Ali Odefa, on Friday attended some of the events marking the 59th anniversary celebration of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) held at the Air Force Base, Emene, Enugu.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, warmly welcomed Governors Ugwuanyi, Makinde, and others.
Governor Ugwuanyi and others watched a number of events, including an aerial demonstration, the introduction of new platforms, such as the DA-62 aircraft, and a gala night with prize presentations.
In his welcome speech, Air Marshal Amao welcomed the governors and other dignitaries on behalf of the Nigerian Air Force.
The host and guest of honor, Governor Ugwuanyi, was praised by the Chief of the Air Staff for his unwavering support of and gracious demeanor toward the Nigerian Air Force in Enugu. He also expressed his gratitude to the state's residents, especially the host villages, for coexisting peacefully with the NAF.
In addition, Governor Makinde of Oyo State was praised by Air Marshal Amao for organizing and supporting the air show/aerial display at the occasion and for his support of the Nigerian Air Force.
Gov. Ugwuanyi thanked Enugu for being chosen as the location for the national event and commended the Nigerian Air Force on its 59th anniversary celebration in his remarks.
In his speech, Governor Ugwuanyi offered his congratulations to the Nigerian Air Force on the occasion of its 59th anniversary and expressed his happiness that Enugu had been chosen as the location for the national celebration.
The governor expressed his hope that the Enugu celebration will pave the way for numerous such successful interactions between the state and the Nigerian Air Force.
He claimed that his administration looks on the NAF's professionalism in carrying out its duties and its operational accomplishments in numerous difficult areas across the nation with great regard
Governor Ugwuanyi assured the Chief of the Air Staff that Enugu State will continue to give the Nigerian Air Force all the support required, particularly through her various facilities in the state, and credited the dedication of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration for the remarkable improvement in capability and quality of personnel in the Service.
"On a final note, I once again express our heartfelt gratitude to the Honourable Minister of Defence, the Chief of the Air Staff, officers, airmen and airwomen of the Nigerian Air Force for the great job you are doing for the country and also congratulate you on this memorable occasion of your 59th anniversary," the governor said.
