Scam N22bn: EFCC Arrests Former Energy Minister Sale Mamman
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested former Energy Secretary Sale Mamman for allegedly defrauding N22 billion.
Mamman, who served as a powerful minister from 2019 to 2021, was arrested Wednesday morning and detained at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.
His arrest is believed to be related to corruption investigations in the implementation of several energy projects.
The minister is accused of conspiring with the employees of the ministry in charge of the accounts of the Zungeru and Mambilla hydroelectric projects to embezzle 22 billion naira and divide them among themselves.
Investigations have uncovered assets in Nigeria and abroad linked to the suspects, while millions of dollars and naira have been recovered.
